The Woldsman Herd of Red Poll
The Woldsman Herd of Red Poll Calttle was founded in 1953 by Leonard and Stephen, with in calf heifers from the Kirton, Fanton, Melton and Barnsfold Herds, with maiden heifers comming from the Lowpark Herd (in those days primarily for milking, which we ceased in 1978). Also a bull was purchased from the Pocklington Herd. From this stock along with carefully chosen sires, our herd has grown to a 100 strong single suckled herd of international standing
- Founded 1953 – Half a Century of Breeding
- All our females are homebred and are registered with the Society
- Herd Size approx 100 Suckler Cows
- Easy calving in less than 365 day interval,
- All our male calves left entire, going for beef at 15-18 months @ 550-600 Kg L.W. or for herd sires.
- Young Cows, incalf heifers & maiden heifers usually for sale.
- All our cattle are Tuberculosis and EBL Tested.
- No Animal we have bred has ever had BSE
